Dimple Records Closing; People Dismayed

Dimple Records located in Folsom, CA; one of six in the area

Sacramento's biggest remaining record store, Dimple Records, has officially announced that it will be closing its doors for good over the next few months. For years Dimple Records has provided its community with hundreds of CDs, movies, video games, books, and more, all for a low price. This store has created a safe place for many of its shoppers to go and indulge in all their favorite forms of art. It's all too easy to lose track of time wondering the many aisles in search of that one CD which brings you back to some of your favorite memories. There's something within their walls for everyone.

However, in this day and age, CDs aren't as appreciated as they once were. This is mainly due to the growing popularity of music streaming services, such as Spotify. These services offer a variety of music filled with ads that you have to pay to get rid of. The newer generations have missed out on the feeling of opening up a new CD and blasting it for all to hear. The sound quality is better than any streaming service and most CDs come with extras in the tracks that you otherwise wouldn't hear. Plus, there is no fun like flipping through a CD book and finding out that you've been singing the lyrics wrong the whole time. Basically, CDs without a doubt are the best way to listen to all of your favorite music and are fun to collect as well.

These issues have had a great effect on Dimple Records which has ultimately led to their closing. This is the first step toward the destruction of an important part of our history and culture as a community. If we allow Dimple Records to close without a fight then we lose a part of ourselves that streaming services can never replace.

So we at The Riptide News are asking for your help in preserving our history and saving our records. If you would like to help support our cause then there are links down below to make your voice heard. We will not be silenced. Thank you for doing your part to help save our community.
