Is A 'My Chemical Romance' Reunion On The Rise?
The punk-rock legends of My Chemical Romance dominated the music scene starting in 2001. The four-piece band consisting of Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, and Ray Toro spent their twelve-year career releasing songs that would grow to cause a huge impact on both their fans' lives and the music industry. They released songs such as "Welcome To The Black Parade" and "I'm Not Okay (I Promise)" that would go on to revolutionize the punk-rock genre as we know it today. However, they decided to call it quits, releasing the news on March 22, 2013, and devastating fans everywhere.
Since that day all four members have been working hard on their solo projects and lives. Gerard has recently released a new comic book and has a new season in progress of The Umbrella Academy. Mikey has welcomed a new child into his life. Iero's newest album "Barriers" was released on May 31, 2019. Toro's current state is not known at this time, although he has been working on new songs with Gerard for The Umbrella Academy.
That all being made known new rumors have sparked due to a potential leak from Joe Jonas. In case you're unaware, Jonas spilled in an interview that he saw My Chemical Romance rehearsing together in New York. So what are the odds that the legendary band are ready to make their return? We're here to debunk these rumors and rate how possible the odds are of a reunion happening.
Solo Projects and Lives
To begin with, where each member is in their solo career and life has to be taken into consideration when facing these rumors. After all, each of them is quite busy so a reunion right now might not have the biggest possibility. However, both Iero and Gerard have mentioned that all of the members still meet up to discuss business.
2019 Theory
One huge point to be made is that My Chemical Romance's last record album, Danger Days, took place in 2019. Therefore, many fans have speculated that if the band is going to make a return what better time than this year?
Fake Your Death
Our last theory for today is that the last song ever released by the band was titled "Fake Your Death," and was on their greatest hits album. So what better way for a theatric band to return than through an Easter egg placed four years earlier?
All clues point to a reunion being in store for the band, and Jonas seeing them practicing can't all just be a coincidence, right? As of this articles' release date, none of the members of My Chemical Romance have either confirmed or denied the rumors. So, our advice? Keep your eyeliner close because we might be about to witness the return of one of the world's biggest bands.
